The participation of a legend, a hole in one, a Slovak sports accident or an endless shootout. This was also about the 7th year of the Penati Slovak Open.<\/span><\/p>\n

The biggest international golf tournament of the year in Slovakia took place from September 10 to 12 in one of the world’s most beautiful resorts<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Penati. The entire event, with a record subsidy of 22 thousand euros,\u00a0occurred<\/span>\u00a0under absolutely perfect conditions, accompanied by sunny and windless weather. The Legend course, with a par of 73, was prepared at the highest level.<\/p>\n

The three-day event started with the popular\u00a0Pro-Am<\/span>\u00a0tournament, where professional players\u00a0teamed up<\/span>\u00a0with personalities and partners of the Penati Slovak Open.\u00a0Victory was claimed by the team led by professional \u0160imon Zach, who shared the stage with<\/span>\u00a0Andrej Chocho\u013e, Peter Palka, and Milan Sciranka. An additional competition during the\u00a0Pro-Am\u00a0<\/span>day was the professional tournament, traditionally dominated by the Czech Tom\u00e1\u0161 Beck,\u00a0finishing 6 shots under par and earning a 1000 euro bonus.\u00a0<\/span>His compatriot, Ondrej Lieser,\u00a0came just one shot short of victory.<\/span>\u00a0On hole no. 3, a collection was held for handicapped golfers, who finally received a check worth 1450 euros.<\/p>\n

The first round of the main two-round tournament, in which 64 players from seven countries participated,\u00a0showcased<\/span>\u00a0admirable performances. The best starting position after the first day was\u00a0secured<\/span>\u00a0by Denk and Sedl\u00e1\u010dek, who achieved a score of -6.\u00a0Luca Denk from Austria further bolstered his position with a hole-in-one<\/span>\u00a0on hole no. 12 and an eagle on the 15th –\u00a0the iconic par 6 hole<\/span>,\u00a0the longest in Europe, measuring 712 meters<\/span>.\u00a0Meanwhile<\/span>, Czech leader Tade\u00e1\u0161 Sedl\u00e1\u010dek recorded 7 birdies. The\u00a0highest-ranked<\/span>\u00a0Slovak after the first day was the holder of a free card, Ren\u00e9 Bergendi, on the provisional 7th place.<\/p>\n

Tournament ambassador Rory Sabbatini was\u00a0also<\/span> present at the Penati Slovak Open. The\u00a0defending champion from 2019 shot 5 under par over two rounds,\u00a0finishing tied<\/span>\u00a0for 4th. The\u00a0Olympic silver medalist<\/span>\u00a0from Tokyo ended the season in \u0160ajd\u00edkove Humence.<\/p>\n

Another Slovak, Ren\u00e9 Bergendi, also\u00a0finished in\u00a0<\/span>4th place. The 18-year-old\u00a0golfing talent from our country<\/span>\u00a0performed brilliantly on his home course and\u00a0seemed headed<\/span>\u00a0for a sensational victory with 9 shots under par.\u00a0However, an unfortunate turn on the 18th hole,<\/span>\u00a0where two of his balls ended up in the water and he played 4 shots over par,\u00a0brought his story to a bitter conclusion<\/span>. Nevertheless, he did not regret his decision on the hole with the island green.<\/p>\n

After the end of both rounds, three players were\u00a0tied\u00a0<\/span>for 1st place: the leader after the first day, Austrian Luca Denk,\u00a0alongside<\/span>\u00a0Czech player Marek Siakal and the defending champion from 2020, Olympian from Tokyo, Ondrej Lieser. Denk was eliminated in the first round of the shootout. Spectators at Penati\u00a0witnessed<\/span>\u00a0an endless playoff that ended almost after dark. Siakala and Lieser had to\u00a0replay<\/span>par-4 hole number 18 up to 7 times,\u00a0teeing off from three different locations<\/span>. In the end, the winner was\u00a0determined<\/span>\u00a0by a better-managed hole played from the red tee, where Siakala\u00a0landed<\/span>\u00a0his first shot on the green, made two putts, and\u00a0secured<\/span>\u00a0a birdie, while Lieser only\u00a0managed<\/span>\u00a0par. In addition to the trophy, the winner of the 7th Penati Slovak Open, Marek Siakala of the Czech Republic, also received a bonus of 10,000 euros and a free card for the Swiss Challenge of the Challenge Tour series.<\/p>\n
